$2,000 Grand Prize Winner:
Melanie D. of Sarepta, LA (Webster Parish)
“I learned so much about the other parishes that I would not have known.  (I lived briefly in Union Parish, most of my growing-up years were in Claiborne Parish, college years in Lincoln Parish, and my remainder of time has been in Webster Parish.  I graduated from an Arkansas high school so I took Arkansas history.  I had Louisiana history at La Tech with the great teacher, Dr. Morgan Peoples.)  The beginnings of the parishes, architecture, and especially the people who were interviewed were my favorite aspects.  I could just imagine the times and ordeals they went through.  It seemed to make them strong.”

TRIUMPH OVER TRAGEDY:
The Great Depression/New Deal Era in North Louisiana is the
inaugural collaboration of the EYE-20 CREATIVE CORRIDOR.

Thomas Mack

EYE-20 CREATIVE CORRIDOR is a unified effort among three arts councils to provide a longterm Regional Cultural Economy Initiative among Interstate-20 communities ensuring access to the highest quality programs and services offered by artists and arts organizations in North Louisiana. The first group effort commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the Great Depression/New Deal Era in North Louisiana from October, 2009 to May, 2010 through the creation of New Works of Art based on the resilience of 50 elders and 50 architectural sites “Then & Now.”
