STORYTELLER: Myra Davis

Myra Davis photo
As a nationally known innovative story/educator, Myra will warm your hearts with just the right connection of education and storytelling. A former educator turned storyteller in 1980, she wants to share the joy of story with children and adults alike and work with businesses, libraries, storytelling festivals, teachers, parks and administrators to help bring about a better understanding of how to integrate story into all aspects of life. She uses story to teach universal ethical values, encourage understanding and acceptance of other cultures, and to promote environmental awareness.   Her dynamic performances intrigue audiences as she demonstrates both creativity and imagination and is compelled to leave you inspired.

Myra’s workshops and residencies are designed to enhance students self-esteem through oral presentations and the creation of a unique visual art/story book. The students will work during the program to reinforce concepts, learning the essential parts of a story that will aid in reading comprehension. As a result of her workshops or residency, students will be engaged in meaningful, low-stress instruction that integrates the curriculum while enhancing language skills, writing skills, performance, and critical thinking skills. Teacher workshops also available.
