We had everything. We had running water, we had electricity, we had sewage, we had it all. The only thing we didn’t have was air conditioning. Later on we got an attic fan. It wasn’t real good at daytime but it worked real good at night. My father got an idea at the time; he knew that to make it cool you had to get rid of some of the hot air around here. He got some felt and he fixed it up so the felt would run into water with some ice in it. So he could blow the water over it and cool the dining room and living room. Well, he didn’t think about our weather down here, being pretty humid. Before long, everything was dripping with water and beginning to get mold on it so my mom threw it out and we had no more cooling system of any kind in our house.
