For breakfast, we mostly ate bacon and syrup and biscuits, and sometimes we ate rice. We had peas and greens and potatoes and stuff like that. And meat, like chicken. We raised a lot of chicken. And for supper we’d just eat the same thing that was left from dinner. I learned how to cook and I still cook egg pies. It just takes sugar and butter and eggs and milk and flavor. And put it in a crust and put it in the oven, and it bakes til it gets thick. A lot of people like it. I can still make them.
